Please join us for an evening of live music, exclusive champagnes, a bourbon bar, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Tickets and Sponsorships can be secured online: www.redefiningrefuge.org
Redefining Refuge supporters will enjoy a unique and fun evening while helping ensure the ongoing success of the Bay Area’s only Safe House Program for children who have been sexually exploited by means of Human Trafficking. Redefining Refuge’s Safe House provides 24-hour care including housing, food, clothing, and in-home schooling for children as young as 12. “The basic premise of our Program is to salvage childhoods, and restore to these innocent children what was formerly stolen from them. The Tampa Community has been so good to us and continues to play a vital role in this restoration process,” says Founding Executive Director, Natasha Nascimento.
Founded in 2010, Redefining Refuge was shocked by the formerly dispirited response and failure to address Human Trafficking that takes place domestically, with research estimating that up to 300,000 American children are trafficked annually within the United States alone. More staggering is a recent study revealed that the Clearwater/Tampa Bay area was identified specifically as regions struggling with these issues. Recognizing the local need to develop advocacy on behalf of children without a voice or opportunity to protect themselves, became the catalyst to launch this Non-Profit Organization that has been instrumental in bringing Awareness to Tampa Bay!
About Redefining Refuge:

They have been invited to the State’s Capitol to present both the challenges and successes of providing Safe Housing to Minor Victims of Sex Trafficking to The Florida House of Representatives Healthy Families Subcommittee as well as the Florida Stands Against Human Trafficking Legislative Caucus; and were featured as a Resource Provider during the 2013 Statewide Human Trafficking Summit at the University of South Florida. More recently they were invited to Washington, DC to represent the State of Florida during the Shared Hope International JUST Response Congressional Briefing: Mapping State Responses to Sex Trafficked Youth, and were awarded the Spirit of Humanity Award by the DeBartolo Family Foundation.
